Wheelchair Program
Wine Country Curling is proud to be one of the few curling clubs in the United States that actively encourage wheelchair bound individuals to play the sport. For the past two years, the club is sending wheelchair curler in national tryouts.
WCC Represented in Nationals
Pat McDonald, started curling at WCC, has won a position on the United States 2010 Paralympics Team. He is one of five members from across the nations to have made the team. Last year the team took a Bronze Medal at the World Wheelchair Curling Championships. This year the World Championships will be held in late February in British Columbia. And a year from now, Pat will be representing Wine Country Curling as well as the United States in the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Pat is in need of some equipment for his wheelchair and Wine Country Curling will be donating money and doing fund raisers for Pat to cover some of the expenses not covered by the United States Olympic Committee. What a wonderful honor to a really fine athlete. Wine Country Curling is behind Pat in his Team USA endeavors.
For more info, email Pat McDonald (Wheelchair Program Coordinator) or Jerome Larson (Learn-to-Curl Coordinator) or call 707-374-3920.
