Junior
WCC ensures that youth are instructed in the essential skills of the sport in a safe and educational manner. Junior curlers pay reduced fees for the season, and have access to free equipment to help reduce costs to families.
Wine Country Curling welcomes school physical education programs throughout the curling season. Volunteers from the curling club are available to provide instruction to the students and teachers learning the sport.
For more information about youth program, please contact Dave Markowski (Junior Curling Coordinator) or Jerome Larson (Learn-to-Curl Coordinator) at telephone 707-374-3920.
Senior
Recreational curling for men and women ages 55 and above. If you have never curled and would like to learn, we have volunteers who would only be too happy to help you get started.
Stick Curling
Using a throw-stick is now an integral part of curling and many who can no longer throw from the hack are having a lot of fun and success using such a stick. Stick Curling is a new sport which provides challenge and excitement for people of all ages on an equal and competitive basis, and in a social atmosphere. Stick Curling is also appropriate for people with physical disabilities such as knee, back, heart, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, ankle, or foot problems, or just simply advanced age. The rocks are handled with a curling stick from a standing or sitting position (i.e. wheelchairs) enabling everyone to participate competitively. You are welcome to come and give it a try. Wine Country Curling is proud to be one of the few curling clubs in the United States that actively encourage wheelchair bound individuals to play the sport. For the past two years, the club is sending wheelchair curler in national tryouts.
WCC Represented in Nationals
Pat McDonald, started curling at WCC, has won a position on the United States 2010 Paralympics Team. He is one of five members from across the nations to have made the team. Last year the team took a Bronze Medal at the World Wheelchair Curling Championships. This year the World Championships will be held in late February in British Columbia. And a year from now, Pat will be representing Wine Country Curling as well as the United States in the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Pat is in need of some equipment for his wheelchair and Wine Country Curling will be donating money and doing fund raisers for Pat to cover some of the expenses not covered by the United States Olympic Committee. What a wonderful honor to a really fine athlete. Wine Country Curling is behind Pat in his Team USA endeavors.
